Upon my retirement one year ago this week, I knew my hobbies would kick into high gear. However, I still needed to earn an income to help get my husband to retirement more quickly, assist with bills, and pursue my lifelong dream of owning a horse on my own hobby farm.

Thirty-seven years is a nice, long career, but I am still young enough for part-time work. I needed something to free me from stress, especially since my beloved career in education had sadly started taking a toll on my body, mind, and soul. Fortunately, a few things naturally fell into place—leading me to private tutoring, blogging, the YMCA and the Amazon Associate’s program.

Private Tutoring: I badly wanted to stay connected to education; kids and teens are truly my people.
Blogging: This ever-growing website has become a vital space for me. Writing has always been a creative and therapeutic outlet, and quite frankly, I was a emotional mess on and off this last year—especially when school started up again last fall.
Teaching: Just to a different audience! An opportunity arose for me to step in as a part-time teacher and administrative assistant with the YMCA. Every Monday, I have the privilege to teach precious adults and assist our program coordinator. You can read more about how we are Serving Adults with Special Needs and Diverse Abilities through the YMCA Full Circle Program, HERE .
The Amazon Associates Program: This felt like something I should at least try, especially since my own family has relied so heavily on Amazon’s convenience in recent years. Thus, The Bungalow Edit was born!

I am currently in the process of moving our family favorites over, alongside my newest finds, trending items, and fresh creator connections. The transition is moving very slowly, but every little bit helps. I am truly enjoying the process and keeping the faith. • Where Barriers Fall and Joy Takes Center Stage

6.1.26 Some of my earliest memories involve watching The Sound of Music with my family, singing “The Hills Are Alive” and “Do-Re-Mi,” and pretending to be Maria as she belts her way through the Austrian Alps. It is no surprise that I am still deeply touched by the gentle whisper of “Edelweiss” and inspired by…

  • From Nashville to Chicago: The Gift of the In-Between and an Empty Nest, Again

7.21.26 The bedroom is empty, the bathroom vanity clear, and a corner of our living room lonely. This corner our daughter called her office is missing the desk covered in notes only an editor keeps, along with her favorite keepsakes and the chair she claimed as her own. No longer is our shared vanity laden…

  • What’s Your Dream?

September 6, 2025 I dream. I dream a lot. I dream while sleeping like most, but my favorite dreams are the ones I have while wide awake! Might I share a few? I dream of a farmhouse surrounded by horses, goats, cats, dogs and a head of cattle or two. I dream of writing books…

  • A Saturday In My Bungalow

August 23, 2025 This Saturday brings peace, reflection, chores, yard-work, an enneagram lesson, learning more about blog analytics, adding items to my link-tree shop, birdwatching, listening to new music, looking for our future home, college football, reading, solitaire mahjong—my brain is always listing but yet, here I sit in my real bungalow blogging while some…

  • A Week Later

August 18, 2025 Last Sunday upon returning from worship, I adorned one of my momma’s dusters, took to the couch, felt sad all day and into the evening, and didn’t change out of my Mama’s pj’s until sometime Monday afternoon. It was a depressed and melancholy start to the week, indeed. Fast forward to yesterday,…
