I invite you to read my blog here Musings from the Bungalow
As a retired educator with a passion for sharing life and learning, this page offers a glimpse into my journey. For me, teaching was never just a profession—it was a calling. I aimed to be my students’ biggest cheerleader, to truly listen, and to meet them exactly where they were so we could grow together.
My mission has always been to inspire young minds, build their self-esteem and ignite a lifelong love for learning. After years of pouring my heart into children and teens, I am now stepping into an unknown chapter, as I retire and open myself up to new opportunities while holding fast to the comfort and enduring love of teaching.
Sharing Life
Welcome! Through this blog, I share the messy, beautiful reality of retired life—its highs, lows, everyday uncertainties, and simple, joyful moments.
My years as a sister, daughter, mother, wife, friend, foster mom, and educator have gifted me with a lifetime of stories. Here, you will find insights reflected from my classroom days, alongside plenty of “just because” moments. These stories are deeply human: heartwarming, heartbreaking, humorous, and inspirational.
Whether you are looking for a shared laugh, a moment of comfort, or a bit of hard-earned wisdom, I am glad you are here for the journey.
My Next Chapter: Farms, Finds, and Future Plans
Life is wonderfully full right now! Beyond blogging, tutoring, teaching at the YMCA, and occasional substitute teaching, I am diving into learning Mahjong and planning an upcoming move. I am also embracing the hobby farm life—definitely with horses, maybe with goats and chickens, but time will tell. Tune in this time next year to see who joins the family!
As I scout out everything we need for our new home and future farm, it only felt natural to start sharing my favorite finds with you. This brings me to my next venture: trying my hand at being an Amazon Associate. While my primary goal is to share resources my family truly believes in, this project serves a practical purpose too. It is a creative way to help support our daily budget, fund our new home needs, and hopefully pave the way for my husband to join me in retirement!
But truth be told, my biggest goal for this next chapter isn’t just about adding new projects—it is about embracing the rest I have truly earned. I am actively choosing less stress and intentionally creating more time to just be. Most of all, I am looking forward to soaking up slow days with my friends, my family, and especially my husband.
As a retired educator with a passion for sharing life and learning, this page offers a glimpse into my journey. For me, teaching has always been more than a profession—it is a calling to inspire students, help them believe in themselves, meet them where they are, and ignite their excitement for learning as a window to the world.
After years of nurturing young minds, I am stepping into this new chapter. I do so with eager anticipation and an abundance of uncertainty—but also with deep faith, reliable friends, and family by my side. While I will always hold onto the comfort and lifelong love of teaching, I am opening myself up to new opportunities. This space reflects all the pieces of who I am: a daughter, a devoted wife and mother, a sister, a cherished friend, a novice gardener, a flower lover, a music enthusiast, a dancer at heart, and a retired educator. Whether I am listening to music, tending to blooms, or sharing time with loved ones, the joy of discovery never stops.
Welcome to Becky’s Bungalow, where we I am finding joy in retirement, one day at a time.
